Welcome to website of the Polymer Physics and Chemistry Team (l’Equipe de Physique et Chimie des Polymères, EPCP). The EPCP is part of the Institute of Pluridisciplinary Research into the Environment and Materials (Institute Institute Pluridisciplinaire de Recherche sur l’Environnement et les Matériaux, IPREM), which is itself a joint research unit bringing together personnel from the CNRS and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour.

EPCP brings together researchers and academic University staff to study the preparation and characterization of polymer-based materials. Our pluridisciplinary approach, facilitating a better understanding of materials and their applications, is situated at the interface between chemistry and physics, and involves macromolecular engineering, innovative polymerization processes, physical-chemistry characterizations, rheology, adhesion, and industrial fabrication processes. Our fundamental research is based on original ideas that develop new ways of understanding the relationships between polymer structures and their properties. Our work clearly resonates with industrialists and leads to strong partnerships and long term valorization.

M. BILLON Laurent
Director, Polymer Physics and Chemistry Team

Based at the Hélioparc Science and Technology Park in Pau, and housed within the IPREM, the Team benefits from around 220 m2 of first class laboratory space and equipment facilitating on-site preparation, manipulation, and exhaustive chemical and physical characterizations of polymers. The Engineers and Technicians of the Team ensure a daily maintenance of these laboratories and are constantly improving the experimental techniques at our disposal. The Team welcomes post-doctoral and PhD students, along with short-stay students and helps enable them with the competences that they require to enter the socioeconomic sphere.

The world-wide recognition of our research activities and our potential, by our industrial and academic partners and evaluating committees, has resulted in numerous International and National collaborations with industrial enterprises and private and public institutes. The whole Team is constantly on the move improving the understanding and development of polymers and their applications.

We wish you an enjoyable visit to the site wherein you’ll find out about our activities and our laboratories.
