Surfaces and Interfaces

The understanding of the phenomena underlying the adsorption or grafting of polymers onto surfaces is an important cornerstone in the industrialisation of processes and materials, notably in the fields of friction, lubrication and adhesion. The characterisation of the rheological properties of confined polymers can promote the understanding of: the dynamics of chains in the neighbourhood of the surface (interface); the structuration of copolymers; and the evolution of the glass transition temperature at the extremities of the volume. Our research goes from the macroscopic level, with bulk properties used for the adhesion of soft adhesives, to the nano-scale where interfacial properties are studied.
